Channel steel cover plate for seismic support

Description

Channel Clamp Plate for Seismic Bracing

I. Product Definition

Channel clamp plate, also known as C-channel spacer, U-shaped pressure plate or channel reinforcing gasket, is a core fastening fitting for seismic bracing systems. Matched with standard 41×41 C-channel steel, it is clamped onto the channel slot and works with full-threaded suspender rods and nuts to fasten the channel steel. It distributes stress to prevent channel deformation and cracking, complying with the welding-free assembly requirements specified in GB 50981 Code for Seismic Design of Mechanical and Electrical Equipment of Buildings.

II. Core Functions

  1. Pressure Bearing & Reinforcement: Disperses local compression when tightening suspender rods, avoiding extrusion tearing of channel slots and improving overall load capacity and seismic resistance.

  2. Fitting & Positioning: Double folded edges fully fit the inner and outer walls of channel steel, eliminating sliding and shifting under vibration.

  3. Anti-loosening & Buffering: Enlarges contact area to reduce point-contact friction between bolts and section steel, preventing loosening under seismic loads.

  4. Universal Assembly: Welding-free for fast on-site installation, applicable to seismic bracings for fire protection, HVAC, water supply & drainage, and cable trays.

III. Base Material & Anti-Corrosion Treatments

Base material: Q235B carbon steel; standard thicknesses 4 mm / 6 mm (6 mm thickened version is preferred for engineering projects).Surface treatments sorted by anti-corrosion grade:

IV. Standard Installation Procedure

  1. Pass the full-threaded suspender rod through floor slabs or structural embedded parts, vertically penetrating the long slotted holes of C-channel steel.

  2. Place one clamp plate above and one below the channel steel, with folded edges closely attached to the inner and outer sides of the channel slot.

  3. Install flat washers and self-locking nuts on both sides, and tighten to specified torque values: 35 N·m for M10, 50 N·m for M12.

  4. Matching clamp plates shall also be used to reinforce joints where diagonal braces and lateral seismic connectors connect to channel steel.

V. Applicable Engineering Scenarios

VI. Selection & Purchasing Guidelines

  1. Prioritize the 6 mm thickened model; thin 4 mm plates are only suitable for lightweight small-bore pipelines.

  2. Hot-dip galvanized finish is mandatory for humid basements and pipe galleries; cold galvanizing is prohibited.

  3. M12 clamp plates shall be uniformly adopted for large air ducts and pipelines above DN150.

  4. Equip with self-locking nuts to avoid loosening of ordinary hex nuts under long-term vibration.

  5. Must be compatible with standard 41-series C-channel steel (universal for 41×41 / 41×62 channel steel).
