What should be considered during the installation of seismic supports for air ducts?

Update:Jan 05,2026

What should be considered when installing seismic supports for air ducts? When mounting these supports on a wall, the position line for the surface of the support crossbeam is determined based on the elevation of the duct—which typically runs along the wall. Next, the specific location of the support is established according to spacing requirements, and the crossbeam is secured to the wall. Installation methods such as embedded steel plates or embedded bolts may be employed for this purpose.

During installation, the positioning of the support frames should first be marked based on the centerline of the air duct. For a single-post frame, the position is determined by the duct's centerline; for a double-post frame, the posts are installed symmetrically relative to the duct's centerline. Next, the mounting locations for the supports are determined based on the required spacing for the seismic duct supports. Finally, the installation height of the frames is set according to the duct's elevation. In short, all measurements and confirmations must be completed prior to installation.

When installing seismic supports for air ducts, the main ducts and branch ducts can be pre-assembled, while hoisting conditions and the ducts themselves are inspected. Before installation, verify that the hangers are secure and ready. Once the ducts and fittings are firmly connected, check that the supports are securely anchored.
